Find Your California
Surf, skate and retro aesthetics are the basics of photographer and make-up artist Nico Guilis’s work. It all started in 2012 with the opening of the instagram account @findyourcalifornia, a way for her to share her love for the Californian lifestyle. Originally from Southern California, Nico has meanwhile moved to New York and felt a little homesick. Especially during winter season, we imagine... At that time, she was already documenting her surf trips for Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Foam, or Van Girls. Her instagram account got some recognition and straight after she launched the website Find Your California, a logical development, with a "Get Lost" section that allows her to go in depth into her work and highlight influential women in the community, artists or it-girls, while incorporating this retro vibe. You can meet there Quincy Davis, Stephanie Gilmore, Lindsay Perry or even Poppy Delevingne. The style appeals and she decides to set up a creative agency to offer other brands the possibility of integrating that same aesthetic into their own world. Therefore, she has signed several lookbooks and video clips, including the latest, The Youth Burst Forth, for clothing brand Thaddeus O’Neil. A real gem.
